The London Craft Beer Festival and Bulleit have teamed up to create a specialist beer and whiskey pop-up with barbequed and slow-cooked meat dishes to boot.
If the evenings are still too cold and dark for you, try seeking warmth and solace in The Stevedores, a newly opened pop-up bar serving up an array of British craft beers paired with Bulleit whiskey and rye cocktails. It is named after the dockers who loaded and unloaded alcoholic goods to and from ships.
The bar features a weekly changing beer menu that focuses on a different British brewery each time. These are then combined with some Bulleit Bourbon and Bulleit Rye to produce a small selection of cocktails. The Stevedores Sour (Bulleit Rye, lemon and Evolver IPA reduction) is a good starter cocktail but if you want to get down to business, go for The Boulevardier (Bulleit Rye, Campari and Sweet Vermouth). Boilermakers are also available – that’s beer paired up with a shot of bourbon or rye.
And to keep your hanger pangs at bay, there are nibbles by Pull & Punch – it’s worth making a visit for their slow-cooked pork sorpotel buns alone.
The Stevedores Beer & Whiskey Bar, The Pickle Factory, 13-14 The Oval, Bethnal Green, London E2 9DT. Open every day from 6pm- midnight until 10th March
