Although entertainment remains the big draw at the Royal Albert Hall, its latest restaurant Verdi merits an outing of its own too. Managed by rhubarb, the menu is a fanfare of failsafe Italian-Mediterranean flavours. Trust us when we say you should not to leave without trying the perfectly juicy grilled prawns wrapped in pancetta, which arrive at the table sizzling in a staub.
The stone-baked pizzas featuring the usual favourites – grilled chicken, dry cured ham, salami – are perfectly crisp and ideally sized for the ravenous, whilst the meat and fish dishes offer just that bit more flavour and variety – the sea bream and gluten-free gnocchi is a delicate yet filling option.
Cocktails are simple but go down all too easily, particularly Lake Garda – a gin and tonic flavoured with elderflower and lemon. An easy and relaxed dining environment set inside a most grand and historic of buildings – it’s a destination worth making the trip for.
