It will be the first retrospective in Europe of Alexander McQueen’s work and a magnificent body of work it will be too.

Next year, coming ‘home’ to London, where McQueen was brought up and based, the exhibition will feature the late designer’s handiwork from his MA graduate collection in 1992 to his unfinished A/W 2010 collection.

In honour of the spectacular staging of his runway shows, his designs will be presented in just as dramatic a fashion under the roof of the V&A.

The exhibition was originally organised by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2011.
