Cocktail diary: Mansion Bar and Parlour

Bar

WHAT’S THE DEAL?: A bar with a sense of humour and character. There are fun Victorian touches, think bowler hat light fixtures, newspaper-print wallpaper and cameo-backed high chairs that nod to the heritage of the 1890s mansion building

WHAT’S GOOD?: Just work your way through the ‘Norman Lockyer’ molecular cocktails – it’ll be worth it. Try the alcoholic dessert of a strawberry jelly daiquiri or a carbonised negroni, easily one of the most drinkable negronis you’ll ever have. If you fancy something a little stronger, try an ‘Oscar Wilde’ absinthe tipple at your peril

THE OCCASION: An intimate yet fun catch-up with friends

QUIRKS AND PERKS: Check out your bar person’s name badge – each one has been ‘bestowed’ with a Lord or Lady title. If you want to watch the mixologists at work, park yourself right at the bar and watch them play with everything from Perlini carbonators and cola foam to caviar balls
